Riding

Forestcliffs    Skyremes

  • Requires: Agility
  • Origins:  Zordin
  • Start with:   Ride, a skyseahorse or battle jelly mount

You’re at home on the back of a monster—a skyseahorse or a battle jelly (your choice) if you start with this lore. See both monsters’ statblocks below.

The monster you start with is tame, and you can confidently ride any other tame, large monster. While you ride a tame monster, you have total control over its actions and movement. The Monsters lore grants abilities related to taming other monsters.

You start with the following ability:

Ride

Agility  Requires 1 free hand. You only need one free hand to ride a mount, so you can hold an armament in your other hand. You can also make ranged attacks with an atlatl, bow, or sling while mounted (provided you have the lore to use them)—even though they require a second hand to load ammunition.Additionally, if your mount suffers lethal damage, roll Brace with compel advantage as a free action to hang on and maintain control. (The mount is the target of this action.) Success: You maintain control of your mount.Struggle: You maintain control, but suffer -1 guard. (If you don’t have guard left, you fail.) Failure:  The mount tosses you from its back.

Death from Above

✦✦✧ Agility  With your mastery of aerial maneuvers, you can ride your mount and position yourself to strike a foe's vulnerable flank from above. Roll Maneuver while you're mounted on a tame monster and on high relative to a foe. Success: Make a free jump-attack against the foe, adding your Agility. Struggle: The foe can take -1 awareness to cause your Maneuver to fail.  Failure:  You can make a free jump-attack, but without maneuver advantage—or you can choose to remain mounted.
