If you choose this Code as a starting hero, you know ✪ Code of Order and its spells. Otherwise, you can learn ✪ Code of Order with XP—so long as you have the Order ideal or the ✪ No Truth Without Order ability from the Code of Truth.

✪ Code of Order

✦ Will This ability grants two spells: 𐎺 Resolve and 𐎺The Way of Things.

𐎺Resolve | SOULSIGHT 2+

Against the target of your Soulgaze, you are unshakable. If this foe inflicts damage to your guard or awareness, you can expend 2 points of soulsight as a reaction to reduce that damage by 1. You can expend larger amounts of soulsight to reduce the damage further.

𐎺The Way of Things | SOULSIGHT 4

Roll Compel and direct a character to obey their duty, local laws, commands from a superior, or their general station in life. If the character has the Freedom or Power ideal (or both), take a -2 penalty on this roll. ✦ Success: The character strives to act in a way that best exemplifies their perceived duty or hierarchy. For example, a mercenary follows their orders to the letter and neither improvises nor shirks their tasks. In battle, a foe might act robotically, taking the same attack action over and over again even if it isn’t very effective. If a foe doesn’t have clear commands or an objective, they may simply Stand Fast and hold their position as long as you have soulsight over them. ⬖ Struggle: The character(s) can take -1 spirit to rebuff your magic.ⓧ Failure: No effect.This spell’s effect lasts at least until you leave the character’s sight or have no soulsight remaining. If you convince a character to follow their orders elsewhere, beyond your sight, the effect lasts until something external jogs the character’s memory and reminds them of their capacity for free will.The spell doesn’t convince its target to shift their conceptions of authority. A Kananite rebel under the effects of this spell wouldn’t magically obey the empire. They would, however, dutifully, perhaps excessively, obey the dictates of their local rebel leader.

✦✧ Strength Gain +2 max Life.

✪ Against Chaos

✦✧ Will When you cast the Withering Stare spell against a monster from the realm of Chaos, you inflict lethal damage equal to the monster's size on a success, along with the spell’s normal guard damage.

✪ Heart of Order

✦✦✧ Will Gain +1 max Life and +1 max Guard.

✪ No Order Without Justice

✧ Intellect Your experience has led you to conclude that Order without Justice is morally vacuous tautology. When you learn this ability, you also learn the ✪ Code of Justice ability and its spells. You can subsequently learn other abilities from the Code of Justice. (You don't gain the Justice ideal, however.)
