Armor

Arms    Mundane Items

Armor comes in two main forms: body armor and helms. You can only wear one body armor and one helmet at a time.

Beyond its form, armor also comes in two styles: manufactured or crafted. Manufactured armor includes refined gear made of bronze or laminate materials. It's produced in armories and can usually only be acquired with imperial credit (or with the Panoply lore). These armors provide strong protection, but (aside from laminate) they make their wearers vulnerable to lightning and gray magic.

Crafted armor is makeshift, created from bone, hide, scales, or even bits of bizarre ancient detritus from the Chaos. Crafted armor isn't metal, so isn't vulnerable to lightning or gray magic. But it's more fragile and can be destroyed by breaking attacks that hit the wearer.

Body Armor

         4𐤑     Laminate

Armor +1  Penalties -1 max StaminaLaminate armor is made of many layers of linen glued and squished together to form a solid cuirass. It’s quite lightweight and maneuverable for its stopping power.

         6𐤑     Bronze Scale

Armor +2  Penalties -1 max Stamina, -1 to Maneuver rollsScale armor is a cuirass of many overlapping bronze scales sewn onto a soft backing. It’s effective protection, though a little unwieldy to move around in. Vulnerable to lightning and gray magic.

         10𐤑     Bronze Coat

Armor +3  Penalties -2 max Stamina, -1 max Guard, -1 to Maneuver rollsA scale coat is essentially bronze scale armor extended and fitted to cover most of the wearer’s body. It’s extremely heavy and unwieldy—so much so that wearing it makes it harder to move your arms effectively to block attacks—but its protection can’t be beat.Vulnerable to lightning and gray magic.

         15𐤑     Bronze Plate

Armor +3  Penalties -2 max StaminaPlate armor consists of carefully cast bronze plates, specially fitted to the wearer’s body. It’s as heavy as a scale coat, but much less cumbersome, and offers unbeatable protection.Vulnerable to lightning and gray magic.

           3𐤇   Crafted Armor

Armor +1  Penalties -1 max Stamina, breakable Durability 4Crafted armor is made out of makeshift local materials—for example, stone shards or dragon scales sewn into a backing. It often looks like bronze scale armor, but it’s not as strong as bronze. Breakable. If the armor absorbs any amount of lethal damage from a breaking attack hit, it can be destroyed in the same way as a defending armament (DR 4).

Helmets

         3𐤑     Bronze Helmet

Armor +1  Penalties -1 max AwarenessA cast bronze helmet has one job—protecting your precious skull—and it’s pretty good at it. Vulnerable to lightning and gray magic.

           3𐤇   Crafted Helmet

Armor +1  Penalties -1 max Awareness, breakable DR 4A makeshift helmet, perhaps carved out of stone or fitted from a dragon’s skull, is more fragile than a bronze helm, but still does what it’s designed to do.Breakable. If the helmet absorbs any amount of lethal damage from a breaking attack hit, it can be destroyed in the same way as a defending armament (DR 4)
