ITEMS & CONVEYANCES

Magical Items

← Imperial Implements  ✧  Travel & Conveyances →

Charms

Charms are pieces of jewelry that protect you or grant you luck in times of need. You can only wear one charm at a time. If you replace an old charm with a new one, you need to rest with it for its magic to become active.

Amulet

COST 1𐤑     CRAFT 1𐤇 This pendant is carved or painted to look like a protective eye. You can activate the amulet to cause any Compel against you to fail automatically—at which point the amulet shatters and is wholly destroyed.

Talisman

COST 1𐤑     CRAFT 1𐤇 This pendant holds a rough crystal. When you invoke an ideal and your result still fails or is otherwise not to your liking, you can activate the talisman and roll your ideal die one more time—at which point the talisman shatters and is wholly destroyed.

Idols

Idols are small figurines, usually carved out of wood but sometimes of clay, stone, or bone, that portray Lord Adod or one of the three goddesses related to him who are also worshiped by Kananites. All idols work with the Offering ability (see the Lord Adod lore). You can only use one idol at a time when you make an Offering. The idol helps you concentrate on the offering, but is not itself consumed or sacrificed.

Idol of Adod

COST 1𐤑     CRAFT 1𐤇 (requires Lord Adod or Wisdom of Adod)Holding this idol increases the efficacy of your ✪Offering to the Lord. Gain +2 bonus on your roll.

Adod is the Lord of Tel-Kanan and typically considered synonymous with the cyclone that holds up the realm's floating islands. He's often portrayed as a winged bull, or a muscular, horned man riding a stormcloud.

Idol of Anat

COST 2𐤑     CRAFT 1𐤇 (requires Lord Adod or Wisdom of Adod)Praying to this idol enables you to obtain the grace of Anat when you make an Offering to the Lord. Along with that ability’s normal options, you can spend 2 lord-focus to gain 1 grace-focus (2 for 1). Spend grace-focus during battle or storm to regain your grace, 1-for-1, up to your max. You can do this at any point in time, and you can spend grace-focus to reduce incoming grace damage.

Anat is Adod’s sister. She's a fierce warrior who's said to do Adod's dirty work when the Lord is incapacitated. She's often portrayed as a teenage girl with vacant eyes and bloodstained arms. Her relationship with Adod is . . . complicated.

Idol of Istar

COST 2𐤑     CRAFT 1𐤇 (requires Lord Adod or Wisdom of Adod)Praying to this idol enables you to obtain the vision of Istar when you make an ✪Offering to the Lord. Along with that ability’s normal options, you can spend 2 lord-focus to gain 1 wisdom-focus (2 for 1). Spend vision-focus during battle or storm to regain your awareness, 1-for-1, up to your max. You can only do this at the start of your turn.

Istar is the goddess of craft, broadly defined—tradecraft, navigation, warcraft, technology. She's often portrayed as a middle-aged woman wearing elegant armor.

Idol of Sherah

COST 1𐤑     CRAFT 1𐤇 (requires Lord Adod or Wisdom of Adod)Praying to this idol when you make an ✪Offering enables you to spend focus to heal yourself, 1-for-1. If you’re at max life, you can spend 2 lord-focus to gain 1 overflow life (2 for 1).

Sherah is the goddess of agriculture, healing, hearth, and home. She's often portrayed as a pregnant woman with a serene smile, and is said to be Adod’s ever-forgiving consort.

Mystic Weapons

A mystic weapon takes the form of a club, sling, or staff. Unlike mundane versions, these weapons have intricate patterns of holes carved in their wood, or in the case of a sling, woven into their fabric. While you wield the weapon, these patterns channel the wind and its Rephaim: you can cast the ༄Gale Strike spell by taking -1 awareness instead of its normal breath-focus cost. A mystic weapon otherwise functions the same as its mundane version.༄ Gale Strike As part of casting this spell, make an Attack. A blast of wind follows the attack’s motion: Shove (Brace) the foe with Compel advantage as a ➟following action. If your attack misses, Shove the foe with a -2 penalty. If you lack a suitable ranged weapon or projectile, you can make a harmless Ranged Attack with this spell that carries the gale to a distant foe.

Wielding & Crafting

All mystic weapons require either the Path of Air or Wisdom of Adod to wield and to craft. The mystic sling also requires the Sling lore to wield.  Creating a mystic weapon requires 3 crafting resources. If you have a normal version of a mystic weapon, you can turn it into a mystic weapon with 2 crafting resources.

Messenger Bonus

If you wield a mystic weapon as a Messenger, you gain a +2 bonus when you ✪Call Wind.

Spirit Vessels

Spirit vessels are physical attachments to Shinarian bodies. They are useless to non-Shinarians. They require the Code of the Clay King to craft, though any Shinarian can attach and use them.It takes about ten minutes to attach and activate a spirit vessel, or to detach and deactivate one. If you detach a vessel, you regain your maximum Spirit instantly, but not your current spirit. You can attach and benefit from multiple spirit vessels—as many as your core Spirit. If your hero has a ✪Second Soul, both souls benefit from a spirit vessel.

Spirit vessels decrease and increase your max attributes. Your core attributes don’t change, nor do your action dice, Weight, or Life (except for the Heart Container).

Deception Detector

CRAFT 2 resources Reduce your max Spirit by 1. Characters have a –4 penalty to Deceive you. You can also see through light-magic illusions.

Heart Container

CRAFT 3 resources Reduce your max Spirit by 1, and increase your max Life by 6.

Memory Cistern

CRAFT 3 resources Reduce your max Spirit by 1, and gain one Shinarian lore, its starting ability, and any language or literacy it grants (but not any items). You can learn new abilities from the lore in a Memory Cistern as you advance, but if you deactivate the cistern, you lose access to all the abilities tied to its lore.

Stamina Amphora

CRAFT 3 resources Reduce your max Spirit by 1, and increase your max Strength by 2.

Vision Orb

CRAFT 3 resources Reduce your max Spirit by 1, and increase your max Awareness by 2.

Voice Box

CRAFT 1 resource Reduce your max Spirit by 1. If you hear someone speak for a few minutes, you can imitate their voice perfectly.

Soul Projector

CRAFT 2 resources Reduce your max Spirit by 1. You overlay an illusory image over your clay form that makes you appear as you remember yourself before your body was immolated and your soul transferred into clay. If you wear this vessel long enough, your self-concept may shift entirely, causing you to forget that your body is clay. This illusion is soul-magic, not light-magic, although characters who can see through light-magic illusions can tell something is not quite right with you. Your lack of grace is also a sign that not all is as it seems.
